Aroview: Kate Winslet goes all-American as a mildly desperate housewife, whose suburban idyll becomes unsettled when a convicted sex offender moves back into the neighbourhood.
This intriguing premise, though, is never quite given enough focus, as Winslet's character strays into a slow-burn infidelity with local hunk (Wilson), a subplot that proves compelling, though not exactly fresh. Distraction is further compounded by an omniscient narrator, who often gets in the way of letting the images and characters speak for themselves. From the dir. of IN THE BEDROOM.

3 stars (Good Enough) Strangely narrated story with several plots, about marital infidelity in the suburbs, a pedophile who's released back into the community & a bullying ex-cop. You could interpret the characters as a metaphor for society. Well-crafted, nicely unpredictable ~GenXGirl
3 stars (Good Enough) The film had 2 themes - an illicit love affair & pedophilia. The early scenes, prior to the two lovers amalgamating, were the strongest but then later ones with a great Jackie Earle Haley's performance (as the predator) were just as good. ~Tubbs
