Genres: Suspense/Crime / Policier, Serial Killers
Topics: Period 1970s.
Aroview: Intense, painstaking thriller from the dir. of SEVEN magnifies San Francisco's unsolved ‘Zodiac’ killings with obsessive compulsion and gut-wrenching tension.
An adaptation of the Robert Graysmith book, this masterfully transports viewers to the Bay Area in the 1960s and '70s, drawing on actual case files from the notorious mystery, with Jake Gyllenhaal lending boyish enthusiasm as the possessed comic artist-cum-author. With a minute attention to detail, it works simultaneously (and brilliantly) as a police procedural, a thriller and an insight into the obsession of Graysmith, all the while distilling Fincher’s directorial showmanship into an 'authentic' visual record of the era.

4 stars (Very Good) A seat-grippingly intense affair from Fincher, this has the same gritty feel as "seven", and a very realistic and detailed take on the murder mystery of the Zodiac killer. Highly recommended. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) Well told account of a determined detective's attempts to crack one of the most mysterious cases in modern crime - the fearsome Zodiac Killer. Homicidal psychopaths don't get much more frightening than this. ~GenXGirl
5 stars (Exceptional) Brilliantly made and told murder mystery. The atmosphere is incredible and the performances are great. A film that rewards the patient viewer. ~Wizzums
