No Mercy For The Rude
Aroview: A mute hitman limits his contract killings to ‘rude’ individuals, saving up for a voice-restoring operation in this unconventional riff on the Korean gangland vehicle.
Matching playful parody with liberal bloodletting, dir. Park manages to make fun of the genre while honoring its most appealing aspects, namely super-cool villains, and the brutal expression of violence. If too cute in patches, Shin Ha-kyun (who also played a mute in SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE) provides a welcome distraction from the post-modern horseplay as the film’s wildly eccentric front-man.

4 stars (Very Good) Another 'Park' is on the scene, with his take on the gritty and darkly-humorous Korean gangster genre. A sweet, violent, and funny incursion made plausible by the brilliant lead actor. ~Tom H
