Page Turner, The
Aroview: A typically frosty, femme-centric French chamber-piece about a classical music prodigy whose career is sabotaged by a concert pianist, prompting her slow burn revenge.
The inciting incident, though, fails to suitably justify the long-term grudge, though those with a penchant for French high society and ivory-tickling will probably be more forgiving of this, and its debt to the films of Claude Chabrol. The director hails from a classical music background, and indeed the drama of the music (incl. Shostakovich, J.S. Bach and Schubert) exceeds the murderous tension in the narrative.
