La Ceremonie
Aroview: Veteran new-wave director Chabrol takes this HEAVENLY CREATURES-ish tale of the unholy synergy between two women, adds some class theory, and produces a steely, unsettling psychodrama that ranks with his best. Isabelle Huppert is brilliantly played against type, with a French-speaking Jacqueline Bisset also fine.

5 stars (Exceptional) Huppert is brilliant! Bonnaire is a totally illiterate housekeeper & her story is heart-breaking. Very realistic. Totally gripping throughout. Based on a Ruth Rendell novel. Extra with the genius Chabrol is a lot of fun! ~Anon
2 stars (Good Try) Nothing wrong with Sandrine B's performance but the film's energy level went up when Isabelle arrived on the scene. The screenplay was mostly okay except the final scenes were a bit weak. ~Tubbs
