Love Crime

Aroview: Kristin Scott-Thomas sinks her teeth into the bitchiest role of her career as a ruthless, high-flying executive whose attempts at manipulating her latest young protege takes a turn for the worse.

Very much in a tradition of French cinema that pits two strong-willed females against one another, this is enjoyably pulpy but misses the formal elegance you'd expect of its upper-middle-class milieu, partially because of some unflattering videography. Also takes a few liberties with plausibility as its raison d'etre becomes clear in the final reel, so it's a bit clunky overall, but pretty good fun.
