Reprise
Aroview: Touching, keenly perceptive Norwegian film fest favourite centres on two twenty-something writers whose vastly divergent personalities and lofty writing aspirations take them down a road of no return.
Dir. Trier wisely avoids the tiresome pitfalls of movies-about-writers by choosing to focus instead on the 'ancillary' activities of the rival writers: their drunken tomfoolery and relationships - plus the endless array of attendant writerly obligations -, lending this film considerable weight and ensuring wide audience appeal.

3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay was fragmented when it switched the focus to one of the fringe characters who were then returned to the shadows. However, for the most part, proceedings were shared by 3 good performers - with the first half being stronger than the second. ~Tubbs
