Forty Shades of Blue
Aroview: Languid, deep focus Memphis melodrama, in which a Russian trophy wife (Korzun) oscillates between the false love of a wealthy music producer (Torn), and the affections his sensitive young son.
Intriguing chamber piece is both intimate and yet oddly alienating, with the three characters never at ease with one another having a similar effect on the viewer. This pervasive feeling of disconnection made this a somewhat puzzling winner of the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance film festival.
