Last Resort

Aroview: A Russian woman and her 12-year-old son arrive in London where her English ‘fiancé’ has failed to show and she finds herself interned as a refugee at a dead-end seaside ‘resort’.

Isolated and increasingly desperate, she is solicited by shady porn merchants and unsympathetic officials, and warily draws closer to a likeable side-show hustler with a difficult past. Understated but perfectly formed, this is melancholic, poignant tale of good people beset with misfortune and hardship, with heartbreaking moments of fleeting intimacy.
