Dir. Martin Scorsese
Genres: Music / Live Performance, Pop/Rock
Aroview: Scorsese turns his gaze on the elder statesmen of rock 'n' roll -- The Rolling Stones -- as they bang out hits and fan favourites from their back catalogue over two nights at New York’s cosy Beacon Theatre.
Shooting the Stones with a veritable army of cinematographers, Scorsese devotes the majority of attention to the indefatigable Jagger, who makes up for weakened vocal abilities with a trademark sweaty peacock performance. Intermittently dips into the odd spot of nostalgia through archival interviews with the band, but for the most part celebrates their enduring present-day appeal through almost two hours worth of pristine concert footage. Guest cameos from Buddy Guy, Jack White and Christina Aguilera round out what is an attractive addition to any fan’s collection.

3 stars (Good Enough) Scorsese has done better work. More "light" is shed on the band by Keith Richards' book LIFE. Richards' book nicely illustrates the Middle Class origins of the Stones in contrast to Working Class roots of The Beatles! Don't bust yourself to see this. ~Sandy
4 stars (Very Good) A solid concert from the second best band on the planet. ~Tubbs
