Aroview: Iconic 60's performer and actress Marianne Faithfull plays against type as a reserved grandmother tempted into taking up work as a sought-after escort in order to pay for the treatment her terminally ill grandson desperately needs.
Taking its place beside CALENDAR GIRLS and SAVING GRACE in the respectably risqué ‘naughty nana’ genre, this carries a certain cheeky charm through its familiar comic juxtaposition of red-light raunch and suburban conservatism, though perhaps strives a little too often for a heavy-hearted atmosphere when a light-hearted tone would suffice. Faithfull’s underplayed performance won’t be for all tastes, but her fans are likely to be pleasantly surprised by her dignified dowdiness.
