Rocker, The
Aroview: High energy comedy about a washed up rock star (THE OFFICE’s Rainn ‘Dwight’ Wilson) who decides to become the new drummer for his nephew's high school band in order to jumpstart his career again.
Appropriating the moves and grooves of SCHOOL OF ROCK (some would call it a shameless rip-off), but with more focus on hair-metal heroics, this does share a similar goofy feel-good charm, even if Wilson doesn’t rock out with the same balls-to-the-wall passion as the irrepressible Jack Black. All in all, an entertaining enough underdog tale that benefits significantly from a catchy-as-hell soundtrack.

3 stars (Good Enough) A masterclass in the effects of an appealing, comedically deft cast on fairly anodyne material. Wilson is a hugely enjoyable grotesque. ~HiFi
2 stars (Good Try) Couldn't take too much of Wilson - he's annoying in this. Film covers familiar ground. ~Tubbs
