Lost, The
Aroview: Mass murder erupts in small-town America, courtesy of a dead-beat motel manager whose penchant for black clothing, cowboy boots, and casual brutality marks the beginning of an all-out killing spree.
Unsavory in its likeness to real-life gun rampages committed by similarly irate young men, this centres on a repugnant male character sporting run-of-the-mill narcissistic and misogynistic tendencies. May offer kicks to those with a taste for sordidness, mean-spirited outcomes, and generally distasteful violence. Based on a Jack Ketchum novel.

4 stars (Very Good) Left me cold and shaking. Sivertson (chanelling Lynch) conjures mood and tension with dreamy sound and image, yet his characters remain rooted in dirty, banal "reality." That the ending is a foregone conclusion is precisely what makes it so disturbing. ~fairbrother
3 stars (Good Enough) Great character depiction and an even better soundtrack. ~Tubbs
