aka: Los CronocrÃmenes Timecrimes
Spain 2007, 92 minutes
Dir. Nacho Vigalondo
In Spanish with English subtitles
Genres: Science Fiction, Suspense/Crime, Cult
Topics: Timewarp.
Aroview: Intricate, mind-bending Spanish gem following a man who trips back a fraction in time and inadvertently interferes with his past, present and future.
These elements of time are cleverly folded into a convoluted but never confusing caper that is playful, audacious and rough-hewn in the tradition of the best B-movies, but it's also likely to engage a wider audience as a sustained tale with multiple twists and a satisfying pay off. It's also refreshingly free of the smugness and self-conscious sex appeal that is usually customary, embodied by the off-beat casting of lead Karra Elejalde, whose charms are considerable if not physical. Well worth rewinding.

5 stars (Exceptional) A brilliant exploration of situational ethics wrapped in a B-movie mask. 'Sci-fi' in name - but far from chrome in nature. ~NDK
5 stars (Exceptional) I struggle to classify this as a B-movie" for it is a work of perfection. It doesn't feel like a sci-fi time travel, yet the theories work perfectly. The way the film pans out is ingenious. ~KLTL
5 stars (Exceptional) Brilliant movie, the age old paradox; can you go back in time to stop yourself from going back in time?rnrnIt's a watcher, getting more complex as the twists unfold. ~rat1512
5 stars (Exceptional) Very clever indeed. You'll need all your grey cells to follow the intricacies of this suburban thriller which poses moral as well as dramatic challenges. You need to work hard to stay abreast of the complex plot. Very unusual - terrific! ~Sandy
5 stars (Exceptional) Loved. This. Movie. ~Catapillar
3 stars (Good Enough) ~Anonz
