Daltry Calhoun
Aroview: 'Bachelor father' black comedy set in Tennessee sees ordinary Southern lad Calhoun (Knoxville) have his life turned upside down by the appearance of his estranged daughter, who happens to be a musical prodigy.
This lacks bite, surprising considering Knoxville's usual dunderheaded onscreen antics, and although first-time dir. Bronson does manage to whip up the occasional heart-warming moment, the film tends to meander along into a kind of genial nothingness. Still, with all its good intentions (and a sprinkling of Southern charm), there are worse ways to spend a Sunday evening.
