Good Girl, The
Aroview: Quirky, downbeat comedy about people stuck with dead end lives in small-town America adds a string to the bow of acting challenges for starlet Jennifer Anniston, but overall this independent effort shows little more imagination than its title.
Saddled with a drab check-out smock and a constant frown, the actress pulls off ‘ordinary’ reasonably well, but the tale of her illicit affair with a brooding introvert (Jake ‘Donnie Darko’ Gyllenhaal) that has the whole-town-talking-except-her-husband lacks freshness and impetus. The prominent indie supporting players are typecast, lesser-knowns are merely stereotyped.

4 stars (Very Good) Justine, a bored & lonely housewife, falls for new co-worker at the small-town department store where she works. Holden is mysterious, brooding & passionate - everything her clueless pot-smoking husband is not. An off-beat & dark rom-com. ~GenXGirl
