Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Aroview: Latest comedic offering from King of Crude dir. Smith sees two platonic friends (Rogan and Banks) try to earn some much-needed cash by filming a porno, only to discover their relationship might not be so platonic.

Rogan and Banks carry things along affably, and the film is most successful when they're still in their platonic friendship mode with Smith's pop-culture laden dialogue delivered in effortless quick-fire. The film's second half is not quite so successful, and one is left wishing that Smith didn't feel the need to be crude for crude's sake; ultimately, smut and saccharin romance are odd bedfellows. Still, the dirty dialogue will always be a Smith staple, and if you're a fan of his trademark broad comedy, you'll find the laughs come thick and fast.
