Transsiberian
Aroview: Writer-director Brad Anderson (THE MACHINIST) again turns a captivating premise into a stylish, dark-edged thriller of distinction, this time aboard the legendary Transsiberian Express, where an 'innocent' American couple become preyed upon by a mysterious pair of fellow travelers.
Yields tension out of the remote (dis)location and other tourism phobias both real and imagined, while the trainspotting element carries the torch from genre masters Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock. Harrelson plays a similar sap to the one he played way back in INDECENT PROPOSAL, and Kinsley is not-to-be-trusted as usual, but it's in Emily Mortimer - and the striking desolate landscape - where the film finds most of its character.
