Cass
Aroview: Freewheeling hooligan flick centered around the true story of Cass Pennant, a Jamaican brought up in an all white area of London who grew up to be one of the most feared and respected men in the country.
Situated in a Thatcher-era Britain, Pennant's story is less about mindless thuggery as it is about racial tensions and rising up against the odds, although all the yob violence, gratuitous sex and aggressive male camaraderie invariably grates at our empathy. If Pennant is redeemed, it is through his delicately handled relationship with his foster mother. Great 80s soundtrack.
