Naked City, The

Aroview: Classic crime thriller has its eye on a young woman's murder in the 'naked city' of New York, and the two veteran cops in charge of tracking down her killer.

Groundbreaking for its entirely location-specific production, this reads like a love letter to every inch of the sprawling metropolis, cinematographer William Daniels capturing small, isolated images of truth amongst the routine melodrama. A grizzled voiceover completes the picture as almost documentary-style, a film noir breaking free of tradition.
