Aroview: Grungy, thought-provoking examination of our voyeuristic and paranoid modern culture told through several interweaving stories entirely captured on security cameras.
Alternately funny and disturbing, the 'hidden camera' approach illustrates human behaviour at its most candid and unflattering, while the viewer is oddly distanced and yet magnetised by the 'honesty' of the characters across a variety of private and professional situations. While the low budget imposes restrictions on the scope of the concept and it lacks the intellectual rigour of say, Atom Egoyan or Micheal Haneke's work, the Orwellian conceit and adept execution make this American indie well worth a 'look'.
