Ghost Town
Aroview: Brit comedy darling Ricky Gervais ventures Stateside for his first leading role in a feature film, playing a misanthropic dentist whose near-death-experience endows him with the ability to interract with both the living and the dead.
The ghosts here are of the friendly, rom-com variety, and they come nagging him to fix "unfinished business" with loved-ones they've left behind, lead by Greg Kinnear as a remorseful cheating husband. Gervais is actor-for-hire here but the role is nicely tailored around his persona and there's plenty of embellished, improvised dialogue for fans to relish. The result is not far away from the Scrooge-like fables once inhabited by Bill Murray, and this sits comfortably among the better examples.
