Aroview: Blockbuster buffoon Michael Bay reignites the conflict between warring robot tribes the Autobots and the Decepticons, with weedy hero Sam (LaBeouf) and his tarty girlfriend (Fox) also back for an egregious second-helping.

Much, much more of the same, minus the wow-factor or sense of surprise that transformed the original from mere big budget spectacle into something rather unique for its time, this unimaginative sequel relies solely on celebratory explosions and terabites of specials effects. Meanwhile, Bay’s flagrant sexism and obnoxiously commercial images put a bad taste in the mouth to complement the king-sized headache his demolition action sequences (accommodated by gratuitous running time) will almost certainly induce.
