Beautiful Losers
Aroview: A doco for the slacker generation, this early-nineties overview tenuously gathers such hipster artists as Harmony Korine (film), Ed Templeton (photography/painting), and Barry McGee (graffiti) for a class reunion, of sorts.
Surprisingly artless for a film about creative people, its finely cultivated tone of underachievement and nonchalance will be of influence to today’s generation of trend setters, although may disappoint with its lack of insight into what makes these artists actually ‘tick’.
