Open Road, The

Aroview: Pleasant road movie finds Justin Timberlake looking inward as an out-of-form minor-leaguer resigned to seeking out his estranged father and baseball legend, played by Jeff Bridges.

Earnest but easy-going narrative displays some of the hallmarks of PARIS, TEXAS, another searching stateside drama that explains Wim Wenders’ name amongst the producing credits. Although Timberlake’s performance is strictly undercooked, Bridges compensates by chomping through the scenery in typically grizzled fashion.
