Drag Me To Hell
Aroview: Sam Raimi returns to his horror roots in this twisted tale of a loan officer (Lohman) who has three days to rid herself of a deadly curse placed upon her by a disgruntled gypsy.
Mixing knife-edge tension and comic slapstick with a well-written morality tale, Raimi has never been so successful in his insistence on giving the audience a good time; certainly, only the most defensive viewer could resist this goofy celebration of B-movie inspired excess. Complimented by a wonderfully game turn from Lohman and a revoltingly made-up Lorna Raver (complete with glass eye), this is a perfect - and genuinely frightening - reboot of a rather tired genre.
