Wolfman, The
Aroview: Disjointed remake of the Lon Chaney classic stars Benicio Del Toro as the broody beast, helplessly chowing down on Victorian London.
Although the moody atmosphere is spot on (thick fog, mental institutions, Anthony Hopkins), this suffers somewhat from an identity crisis, its uneasy mix of high camp and solemn pretentiousness ultimately gives us little to sink our teeth into. Still, the transformation scenes are well done and Del Toro is appropriately melencholy; if you're willing to turn your brain off, you could do worse than this hokey monster movie.

1 star (Turkey) The art department deserve their props (no pun intended), but otherwise this is humourless, heavy-handed, and not the least bit scary. When even Benecio Del Toro and Hugo Weaving can't ignite a scene between them, you know you're in trouble. ~fairbrother
3 stars (Good Enough) Production values are excellent. ~Tubbs
