Micmacs
Synopsis: A film buff (Boon) with a stray bullet lodged in his head devises an intricate revenge plan to destroy the weapons manufacturers responsible for his father's death.
Aroview: The dir. of AMELIE and CITY OF LOST CHILDREN stays true to form(ula) with his visual chutzpah lavished upon another idealised scenario that this time pits an ensemble of subterranean misfits against two evil magnates of industry.
Has been criticized for lapsing into unintentional self-parody, but dir. Jeunet's imagination and craft are still too keen for most viewers to quibble, and the dependable Dany Boon here provides an ever-engaging presence. Like the later work of Tim Burton, this perhaps won't stay in the consciousness like their earlier classics, but as comic escapism it holds up just fine.
