Big Picture, The
“A weirdly exhilarating piece of soap opera that morphs into a serious study of art and self-discovery.”~Henry Barnes , Little White Lies
Aroview: Romain Duris plays a well-off, happily married lawyer whose life is turned upside down with the discovery that his wife is having an affair - and the tragic consequences that follow.
The midway plot twist has become de rigeur in French cinema, but this detours onto less predictable territory as the protagonist takes refuge on Romanian soil. While unanswered questions and motivations (ie. holes in the plot) hold this back from completely ringing true, Duris' considerable charisma steers it through as a solid piece of existential escapism.

3 stars (Good Enough) Good competent European character play. Lots of local colour, plenty of atmosphere and plenty of good acting. The plot a little unlikely, nobody sheds one identity and takes up another so easily in these times. ~Anon
2 stars (Good Try) Weak story line has little challenge for Duris. ~Tubbs
