Machete Maidens Unleashed
Aroview: Eye-opening look at the exploitation film-making industry that thrived in the Philippines during the seventies as American producers took advantage of notoriously cheap working conditions.
For the most part an energetic overview of some truly bizarre cinema, with a bevy of cult heroes giving their opinions on the relative worthiness of their endeavours, but dir. Hartley doesn't shy away from the exploitation behind the camera either. Packed with outlandish clips from films perhaps deservedly obscure this is a trash aficionado's delight.
