Mill and the Cross, The
Aroview: Polish experimental auteur Lech Majewski offers a breathtaking, elegantly construed anatomy of Pieter Bruegel's epic 1564 painting ''The Procession to Calvary" by re-staging individual components of Bruegel's vast canvas, a depiction of Christ carrying the Cross.
Scenes illuminating the making of the painting, with Bruegel played by Rutger Hauer, Michael York as his patron, and Charlotte Rampling as his muse/inspiration for Virgin Mary, provide artistic and historical context.
