“It's an offbeat and frequently very funny film, lifted out of disposability by some wonderfully rich production design, music cuts and photography, and by the cherishable performances of the leads.”~The Playlist
Aroview: Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston are sublimely cast as sophisticated vampire lovers who reunite after centuries in this stylish and imaginative new film from dir. Jim Jarmusch.
While an elegant fantasy piece on the surface, Jarmusch has done his homework exploring how centuries-old hipsters might pass their days, and his cultural references are name-checked with nostalgic adoration and just the right amount of absurdity. The duel locations of Detroit and Marrakesh resonate not only as otherworldly places, but as extensions of the two characters' contrasting sensibilities. A film for indie lovers if ever there was one.

5 stars (Exceptional) Forget garlic, crucifixes and wooden stakes. Jarmusch dispenses with the usual vampire paraphernalia to deliver a beguiling meditation on love and immortality. Favourite film of the year. ~Anon
5 stars (Exceptional) An actual must see vampire film. Jarmusch tackles the genre in his own style with a beautiful send up. Entertaining and thoughtful. ~bikewrench
4 stars (Very Good) Stunning, a pleasure to watch. Not much happens. ~Truant
5 stars (Exceptional) Beautiful, funny and tender- made with Jim Jarmusch's signature lightness of touch and flare. Hard to say much other then it's just fantastic. You drank Ian. ~Sevenhead
5 stars (Exceptional) ~Regando
4 stars (Very Good) The final scenes are untidy & it struggles to find an ending but what goes before is worth it. The screenplay is slow but it allows room for a bit of historical name dropping. The "could never be boring" Tilda would have been a compulsory casting choice ~Tubbs

3 stars (Good Enough) You know what, I kinda didn't hate it. Normally vampires, which are the most killable creatures there are, spend a lot of time whining about how immortal they are. There wasn't any of that. And it was kinda enjoyable as a result. ~Catapillar
