“A bracingly blunt look at the sometimes debilitating cost of doing business that casts an unblinking eye on the physical, emotional and moral bottom line. ”~Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter
Aroview: The dir. of MARGIN CALL returns to the subject of business ethics for this tough-minded, slow-burn drama set in early 80's New York.
Following an ambitious, idealistic immigrant who fights to protect his oil transportation business and family against a backdrop of urban volatility and unrest, Oscar Isaac (almost unrecognizable from his turn in INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS) is terrific, while the period setting is immaculately rendered in the drab hues of the era.

2 stars (Good Try) On a first viewing it didn't do a lot for me although there were some good patches - will watch again. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Criminally under-seen. Too low-key for those wanting an outright thriller, perhaps, but a must if you prefer suspense built on credible characters and the incremental raising of stakes. Palpable atmosphere, superb performances. ~fairbrother
