Dope
“A smart riposte to the 'hood drama stereotype. Dope is funny, stylish and mostly exuberant fun.”~Ian Freer, Empire Magazine
Aroview: An "urban" teen comedy about three retro-obsessed high-school friends who find themselves having to creatively dispatch a large quantity of drugs that has fallen into their possession.
Heralded in some unlikely quarters, this hybrid of HOUSE PARTY and BOYZ 'N THE HOOD suffers too many ideas, digressions (not to mention n-words), but lead actor Shameik Moore has the fresh-faced charisma that does much to mitigate its short-comings. Zoe Kravitz is an appealing dead-ringer for her mother, Lisa Bonet (of Cosby show fame).
