“It’s a long, deliriously filmic, primal banshee-howl of macabre imagination that leaves us hormonal and drunk on delusion: the beautiful, thrilling, lurid lie of cinema.”~Jessica Kiang, The Playlist
Aroview: A jaw-droppingly audacious remake of the classic Argento horror, which finds director Luca Guadagnino (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME) at his most bold and uncompromising.
Set in West Berlin in the 1970's where an ambitious young dancer (Dakota Johnson) is accepted into a prestigious dance academy. Events soon take a spine-chillingly sinister turn, leading to a climatic scene that is nothing short of divisively full-on. Surely one of the most stylish horror movies ever made, though we still recommend the original on its own terms.

3 stars (Good Enough) Formally stunning and proudly pretentious, in that good way which can make cult classics, but over-length finally exposes the limits of conceit and material alike. The first death scene's a sadistic doozy; hated the climax, loved the coda. ~fairbrother
3 stars (Good Enough) I suspect it is a film that will stand up to repeat viewing mainly because the good bits are very good (that is Irish) and the other bits will become more appreciated. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) very different to the original film, but that just makes it better ~Vesper Lord
3 stars (Good Enough) I thought that a remake of my favourite horror movie was guaranteed to be rubbish because the original was purely about style and not story but you know, this was aight ~Pearce
