Aroview: Ethan Hawke plays a 46-year old pastor of a historic First Reformed church in upstate New York whose existential troubles span questions of faith, morality, modernity and environmentalism.

Elements of the plot and character are inspired by the novel The Diary of a Country Priest, made into the 1950 film of the same name, and directed with passionate focus by Paul Schrader.
