Aroview: Distinguished wartime melodrama from Christian Petzold (BARBARA, PHOENIX) following the plight of a holocaust survivor who assumes the identity of a deceased writer in an unidentified port town. Based on Anna Segherss' 1942 novel "Transit Visa".

1 star (Turkey) Incomprehensibly staged in modern France without coherence. Keen reviews from Roger Ebert et al add some missing context but are unconvincing. Certainly Kafkaesque - in a stupid way. Staccato German script makes speed-reading of subtitles essential ~Sandy
3 stars (Good Enough) The writers seem to have gone out of their way to make the screenplay as complicated as possible. I thought there were a couple of contrivances but that might have been my misunderstanding. However, the writing is fresh & well worth a try. ~Tubbs
