Mother Kuesters Goes to Heaven
Aroview: A furiously witty political black comedy from New German Cinema iconoclast Rainer Werner Fassbinder, heavily inspired by the melodramas of Douglas Sirk.
When a downtrodden factory worker goes on a suicidal killing spree, his working class wife becomes isolated and abandoned by her relatives. When members of the communist movement see her husband's actions as revolutionary and heroic, she is thrown suddenly into the spotlight. Fassbinder once again demonstrates a deep understanding of the social cruelties and selfishness that plague modern society on all political sides. The alternate ending is worth a look.
