Antoinette in the Cevennes
“As a tale of a woman finding herself - and finding out how to truly survive and thrive in her own skin - Antoinette in the Cévennes is both thoughtful and charming.”~Sarah Ward, Concrete Playground
Aroview: A warm hearted French comedy from writer director Caroline Vignal, starring Laure Calamy as a school teacher on a journey of self-discovery in unexpected circumstances.
When her secret lover (and the father of one of her pupils) bails on their summer holiday plans because his wife organised a surprise trekking holiday in the Cévennes National Park, she decides to follow their track, alone except for a gorgeous donkey.
The picturesue Cévennes was made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson whose book 'Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes' is based on his own experience of the journey, which traditionally requires a donkey.
A modest yet beautifully formed comedy that is unmissable for anyone hankering for some traditional Gallic charm.

4 stars (Very Good) Very enjoyable. The sunny irrepressible Laura Calamy is a welcome addition to the great stable of French actresses but she most loves her donkey, Patrick, and is certainly under-dressed and overloaded with luggage for the Cevennes! ~Anon
2 stars (Good Try) The donkey segments and the locations were fine (as was the weather) but you can forget most of the rest. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) ~Anonz
