Anglo Saxon Attitudes (TV Series)

Aroview: TV drama based on the post-war satirical novel by Angus Wilson, following an aging historian (Richard Johnson) as he reflects on his youth, his affairs and his scandalous career.

Facing a broken marriage and academic failures, he is haunted by the memory of his best friend who died in the trenches of WWI, and specifically by his revelation that the excavation of a pagan phallic figure found in the coffin of a disinterred Bishop was all a hoax, putting the historian's archeological rigor in doubt.

A delightfully eccentric tragi-comedy, richly populated with colourful middle-class characters interwoven through various entertaining contrivances.
