Outrage
Aroview: One of the earliest post-Code Hollywood films to deal with the subject of rape, this black-and-white B-movie follows a young woman whose life is shattered when she is raped on her way home from work.
The societal and legal failures that ensue are bravely explored, with actor Mala Powers depicting the character's PTSD and the attempts she makes to rebuild her life. A taboo-subject at the time, this is a remarkable film from director Ida Lupino, a feminist working in the Hollywood studio system in the 50's to makes movies largely centered around female experiences.
