Licorice Pizza
“Delivers a piping-hot, jumbo slice-of-life look at how it felt to grow up on the fringes of the film industry circa 1973.”~Peter Debruge, Variety
Aroview: Celebrated auteur Paul Thomas Anderson amusingly runs through the fads of the 1970s while loosely following the relationship between a precocious teenager (Cooper Hoffman, son of the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman) and a spirited woman in her 20's, played by singer Alana Haim.
The film was a critical smash (as are all PTA's films), but the narrative veers away from the main attraction of its refreshingly plain and charming leads with showy, distracting cameos from Sean Penn, Tom Waits and Bradley Cooper and a raft of nostalgic indulgences.
