Aroview: One of the nicer post-apocalyptic movies out there, starring Tom Hanks as a survivor of a solar flare that has left the earth a scorched wasteland and wiped out most of the population. While travelling from St Louis to San Francisco, he builds and trains a robot that he hopes will take care of his pet dog after he is gone.

Tom Hanks tends to bring warm and positive vibes to any movie that he's in, and this one is no exception, especially since as the only human cast member for nearly the whole runtime he is a big presence in the movie. The story itself also proves to ultimately be a heartwarming one about a makeshift family, despite some suspenseful scenes. It is also a potent tearjerker.
