Apprentice, The
“[Director] Abbasi manages to thread the lines between tabloid fodder and veiled endorsement with great skill.”~The Playlist
Aroview: A riveting drama that charts the apprenticeship of Donald Trump as a young huckster in the 1970s and 80s who is mentored in business chicanery by the notoriously crooked lawyer and political fixer, Roy Cohn.
Sebastian Stan is excellent in an un-caricatured portrait of Trump, as is Succession’s Jeremy Strong as Cohn, in a film that is a must-see for fans of that HBO show, which means just about anyone. It’s the third triumph in a row for Danish-Iranian director Ali Abbasi (Border, Holy Spider).
