Memory
“Memory invites debate, rather than imposing a specific interpretation. It’s also a film that lingers, shifting and expanding in significance, even as the details start to blur.”~Peter Debruge, Variety
Aroview: A complex and intimate drama for adults that explores the relationship between a New Yorker with early onset dementia and a social worker and solo mother who is troubled by her own damaged memories.
It might sound earnest and depressing, but it's not thanks to the first class acting of Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard, and the skillful navigation of Mexican writer-director Michel Franco. It's an unusual yet always compelling love story that doesn't have all the answers to its difficult questions, but that's what makes it linger long in the memory.
