Ugetsu Monogatari
Aroview: Stories by the 18th century writer Akinari Ueda are woven into an odyssey of civil-war misfortune, in which two peasant-potters and their families court poverty, opportunity and supernatural entrapment. Its mix of the brutal and uncanny, while slow at times, is beautifully composed in rich, mysterious images.
