Plot Against Harry, The
Aroview: Repentent racketeer Harry Plotnik is released from jail, but his plans to go legit in New York's Jewish community become inadvertently thwarted by family, friends and 'connections'.
First rate satire possesses both a low budget verve and an odd sophistication - acting, b&w photography and Roemer's script and direction are surprisingly sharp considering the film went unreleased until twenty years after it was shot. Early Scorsese is an obvious reference point, and this little gem easily bares the comparison.
