USA 1998, 93 minutes
Dir. Wes Anderson
Rating: [M]
Genres: Comedy / Youth
Aroview: Bamboozling minds everywhere is this oblique comedy from Wes Anderson (BOTTLE ROCKET), re-envisioning that Hollywood mainstay, Highschool USA, as a cross between Ferris Bueller and PeeWee Herman.
Events are centred around student Max Fischer, a precocious yet emotionally arrested smart aleck, who's caught in an absurd love-triangle with a teacher and rich school-trustee (Bill Murray in his best role in years). His antics including forming a Beekeeper's Club and doing school-play versions of RAMBO, Fischer is a truly original creation that will leave you scratching your head in bemusement (and amusement) long afterwards.

5 stars (Exceptional) One of my favorite movies. Despite Max Fisher's extreme arrogance he is still somehow likeable, and possibly Wes Anderson's best character. ~dr.strangelove
5 stars (Exceptional) Sharp, witty and hugely enjoyable, with wonderful performances including a career-best from the brilliant Bill Murry. ~Wizzums
5 stars (Exceptional) This is the movie that got me 'into' Wes Anderson. His best movie along with The Life Aquatic. ~Swerv
2 stars (Good Try) The soundtrack is fine. The only real screenplay highlight was when Jason Schwartzman was smacked on the nose. Bill Murray is wasted somewhat. ~Tubbs
