Madigan
Aroview: Possibly the last film in which cops and crooks dress in snappy fedora hats and dark coats, a craggy Richard Widmark plays the addled NY Inspector who tries to make good on a botched raid, while commissioner Henry Fonda is up to his elbows in moral dilemmas. Keen police melodrama suitably inspired a TV series spin-off. Co-written by Abraham Polonsky.
