Felicia's Journey
Aroview: Canadian auteur Atom Egoyan takes a sideways step to adapt the Birmingham-set novel by William Trevor, a portrait of a serial killer of the most delicate kind. Bob Hoskins is a picture of eccentricity living alone in his late mother's mansion, the wolf to teenage Felicia's (Elaine Cassidy) Red Riding Hood, an Irish lass abroad, pregnant, lost and vulnerable to his duplicitous charm. Though more precious and detached even by his own standards, the director's playful perversity and attention to detail will satiate those that like a drop of the macabre in their 'Sunday theatre'.
